video
play-sharp-fill

Meilech Kohn, originally named Elimeilech Kohn, grew up in a Satmar family residing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He is the first cousin of renowned singer Lipa Schmeltzer.

Although he initially distanced himself from the Chasidic community of his upbringing, he later returned to it during his adult years.

In 2016, he achieved unexpected success with his popular song “VeUhavata,” propelling him from relative obscurity to fame.

Meilech has been homeless, divorced, and running away from his community for many years and his story of teshuva is one of a kind.
